Maura shot a little video at the Canon booth with her Vixia HF11. These clips are from several presentations where I got to yak about the 5D Mark II. UPDATE: We were having some problems with the video, but a new version has been uploaded and is working.

Hybrid video demands good camera support and smooth movement for optimal results. Although a traditional ball-and-socket style tripod head will certain suffice for locked-off static shots, most users will want to pan and tilt during the shot. This means its time to consider upgrading that still camera tripod to something more appropriate to video usage. Pan-and-Tilt tripods fall into three basic categories: Friction Style, Gimbal Style, and Fluid Style. More after the click through…

When we learned that we would receive the 5D Mark II on a Thursday and needed to begin shooting by Friday morning we realized that we had lots to do and very little time to do it. That meant that we needed a cool concept, a stylish location, and a righteous music track to anchor it all - and we needed it yesterday… I had an idea for a romantic non-verbal narrative – the wedding day as a three act play – but we needed just the right track to make it work. I’m so glad that Maura was up to speed with Triple Scoop’s latest offerings. She pulled several compositions for consideration and we both fell head over heels for The Ooh Wee Song by Jonny Blu.

We had another chance to work with the new 5D Mark II this week and it was great. Before we had to send the clever little fella packing, we decided to do a "hands on" video introduction to both the camera and our prototype UBC handle mount. Click the link above for a sneak peek at our latest MacGyver rig. ...

Check this out! Torpedo Man Paulie demonstrates the various ways to shoot hand-held HD with the new 5D Mk II and my latest gadget. We call this one The U-Boat Commander coz it reminds us of a set of submarine periscope handles. The UBC can be rigged for high or low mode and even acts as a tabletop tripod in a pinch. Add a monopod and it becomes a Po Boy's steadi-rig. Plop the whole outfit onto a small fluid head and start adding audio and video accessories until you're rollin' Hollyweird Style. The final UBC will be black anodized and is, as all of our products, made in sunny Arizona. Prices and pre-order information will be posted soon... Image Gallery after the click-through: |
