Mendel adds his favorites to the mix...
Mendel was using a 70-200mm and a 300mm f4, if I remember correctly. He has since done some gear swapping and now has a 100-400mm IS in his lens arsenal. I think everyone will agree that a lens that reaches out to 400mm is just about mandatory. Mendel got plenty of good shoots by careful attention to opportunities that came close to the vehicle. That, as everyone recalls, included lots of elephants. Mendel remembered to include some nice "Master Shots" that did a good job of explaining where we were, geographically...

Mendel wrote in his journal, "Today I learned that there are 1.8 million wildebeest in the Serengeti and I have seen each and every one..." Cracks me up but I can't disagree. When the migration isn't happening in this area the tall grasses make wildlife sitings rather tough. We did very well with both trips...

Nice work, Mendel; see you at the Jackson Hole event in September. Dress warmly!
